Akamba FM

Akamba FM is a Kikamba-language commercial station for Kamba-speaking listeners, a fairly recent arrival in Ukambani radio. Homemedia Communications Limited holds its FM licence, and the company gives a Machakos postal address, according to the Communications Authority of Kenya register dated 30 June 2026.

The regulator granted that licence on 9 May 2023, with a term of ten years. The date matters for listeners trying to place the station: Akamba FM is not one of the older Kamba stations, and it competes with established names such as Musyi FM, owned by Royal Media Services, and Mwatu FM, the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation's Kikamba service.

Akamba FM is reported to broadcast on 106.5 FM in Nairobi, but neither the regulator nor the station has confirmed that figure, so treat it as unconfirmed. The same goes for its exact launch date on air, its presenters and its programme line-up. We would rather leave those out than guess.

What we can say is who the station is aimed at: Kikamba speakers in Machakos, Makueni and Kitui, and the many Kamba listeners living in and around Nairobi. Online streaming reaches the diaspora too.
