Blitz FM 254

Blitz FM 254 is an online radio station based at Gataka market in Kajiado County, set up to give young Kenyan musicians a platform. Its slogan is 'The sounds of the nation', and it broadcasts in Swahili.

Gataka is a busy area on the Nairobi side of Kajiado County near Rongai. The station has also been linked to Mlolongo, in Machakos County, but Gataka is the more likely base.

The '254' in the name is Kenya's international dialling code, a common badge for brands that want to sound proudly Kenyan. That fits the station's stated aim of playing and promoting home-grown artists, especially young ones. We have not found a list of artists it has featured, so we cannot point you to particular acts or shows.

Blitz FM 254 has no confirmed FM frequency. It is sometimes given as 99.9 FM or 81.5 FM, but neither figure holds up: 81.5 is outside the FM band used in Kenya, and we found nothing linking the station to 99.9. Treat it as online only. We have not found its owner, launch date or presenters.
