Egerton Radio

Egerton Radio is Egerton University's student-run training station, broadcasting on 101.7 FM from the main campus at Njoro in Nakuru County. It is run for and by students of Communication and Media, and its listeners are the campus community and the villages around it.

The station was launched in June 2012, according to the university's Njoro campus pages. Its transmitter mast stands at the Njoro campus, and the signal reaches the surrounding villages and parts of Nakuru Town. Egerton Radio also streams online, so former students and families can listen from anywhere.

As a training station, its first job is teaching: Communication and Media students get hands-on time on a licensed station that real listeners can hear. That makes Egerton Radio part of a wider group of Kenyan campus stations, including Kenyatta University's KU Radio in Nairobi and Chuka University's station in Tharaka Nithi.

Another station, Rware FM in Nyeri, also uses 101.7, but the two are far enough apart not to clash.

We have not confirmed the station's main broadcast language or its current programme names, so none are listed. Around Njoro and Nakuru, tune to 101.7 FM. The station's page is egerton.ac.ke/radio, and you can stream Egerton Radio live on this page.
