Live page

Flamingo Radio is a Nakuru youth station that plays African pop, Bongo, Afrobeats, amapiano, gospel and rhumba mixes for listeners aged roughly 15 and up. It takes its name from the flamingos of Lake Nakuru, and its slogan is "We Play, You Dance".

Two young Nakuru men, Joram Kimani and Charles Mogire, who is better known as DJ Charlie, set it up in 2016. By July 2017 they were running it as an internet station, giving local musicians and poets in Nakuru a place to be heard. That focus on homegrown talent is still the station's main selling point.

The schedule leans heavily on DJ mixes. A recent playlist showed sets such as Bingwa za Bongo by DJ 38K, a Kenyan and Afrobeats mix from a show called The Wake Up Call With Grauchi, a reggae lovers rock session and a 2023 amapiano selection. Expect long blocks of continuous music rather than heavy talk.

Flamingo Radio has been linked to 108.0 FM in Nakuru. We have not been able to confirm that frequency with the station or the Communications Authority of Kenya, and 108.0 sits at the very top edge of the FM band, so we do not treat it as verified. The language is also mixed: it is usually given as English, while much of the music and DJ chat is in Kiswahili.
