Ingo FM

Ingo FM is the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation's Luhya-language station, aimed at listeners in Western Kenya. News, public information, music and community programmes go out in Luhya, so listeners hear national and local stories in their own language.

Ingo FM dates from 2012. It was one of the later stations in a vernacular expansion that began in 2011 with Kitwek FM, Minto FM, Mwago FM, Nosim FM and Mayienga FM, and also brought Mwatu FM in 2012. The aim was to compete for regional listeners who had moved to private vernacular stations in the 2000s.

Western Kenya has a crowded Luhya dial. Ingo FM's private rivals include Royal Media Services' Mulembe FM and Sulwe FM. As part of the public broadcaster, Ingo FM can draw on KBC's national news operation and public service content, and pass government information to Luhya listeners in their own language.

KBC was created by an Act of Parliament (Cap 221) and works from its head office on Harry Thuku Road in Nairobi. Its national radio services are Radio Taifa in Swahili and the English Service. We could not confirm Ingo FM's current presenters or programme line-up, so none are listed.

KBC places Ingo FM at 100.5 FM across the Western region. Outside the coverage area, stream Ingo FM live on this page.
