Radio Kimuri

Radio Kimuri is the Catholic Diocese of Embu's radio station, broadcasting on 100.6 FM for listeners in Embu and the surrounding area. Its studios are at Karurina in Embu, and its slogan, 'Utheri Kuri Andu Onthe', means 'Light for All'.

The slogan is in Kiembu, and that gives a clue to the audience. The station's website publishes news in three languages: Kiembu, Swahili and English. The site does not state which language dominates on air, so we list all three rather than picking one, but the Kiembu slogan shows who the station puts first.

As a church station, Radio Kimuri carries Catholic programming alongside local news. It has also worked with SIGNIS, the World Catholic Association for Communication, which ran a capacity-building project for its staff in 2022.

The station is said to have been inaugurated in the 1980s, but that is unconfirmed, so we do not give a founding date here. We have also not found a published list of current presenters or programmes. If you are a regular listener, the station's website is the best place to check current programmes and news in all three languages.
