Meru FM

Meru FM is a Kimeru-language station for the Ameru of Meru County and the wider Mount Kenya East region, broadcasting on 88.3 FM. Mediamax Network Limited runs it, and its slogan, "Ngwataniro ya Ameru", means the unity of the Ameru.

It launched in 2012. Mediamax set it up so the community had a station in its own language, and most programming is in Kimeru, with some English mixed in. Expect regional and national news read in Kimeru, talk programmes about farming, money and home life, sports coverage, and a music mix that moves between traditional Kimeru songs, current Kenyan hits and popular African tracks.

Mediamax also runs Kameme FM for Kikuyu listeners, Milele FM in Swahili, Emoo FM in Kalenjin and Mayian FM in Maa, along with K24 TV and Kameme TV. The group's brands are linked to the Kenyatta family, with TV Africa Kenya Holdings as the registered company and Mediamax Network Ltd handling day-to-day management.

Meru FM is not alone in the Kimeru market. Royal Media's Muuga FM chases the same audience, so listeners in towns such as Meru, Maua and Chuka have a choice of two big vernacular stations. Current presenters and a full schedule are not listed here.

On a radio, set the dial to 88.3 FM. The station posts on Facebook at merufm88.3 and on X as @MeruFmOfficial, and it streams live online, which is how most Ameru in Nairobi and abroad keep listening.
