Minto FM

Minto FM is the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation's Ekegusii station, made for Gusii listeners in Kisii, Nyamira and the surrounding region. It broadcasts news, public information, music and community programmes in Ekegusii.

Minto FM went on air in 2011. It was one of five vernacular stations the public broadcaster launched that year, the others being Kitwek FM, Mwago FM, Nosim FM and Mayienga FM. Two more, the Kikamba and Luhya stations, came the following year. Together they were KBC's attempt to win regional listeners back from private vernacular radio.

In the Gusii market, Minto FM's main private competition includes Royal Media Services' Egesa FM. Being part of KBC gives it national news and public service content from the wider network, translated into the language its listeners use at home and at the market.

The corporation behind it was created by an Act of Parliament (Cap 221) and has its head office on Harry Thuku Road, Nairobi. Its radio stable includes Radio Taifa, the English Service, Coro FM, Pwani FM and the Eastern and Western Services. We have not confirmed Minto FM's current presenters or show names, so none are listed here.

KBC lists Minto FM at 101.7 FM for Kisii and its surroundings. Listeners outside the region can stream Minto FM live on this page.
