Mutongoi FM

Mutongoi FM is a Kikamba-language radio station for Kamba listeners in Machakos and the wider Ukambani region. It went on air in December 2021 and is the radio partner of Mutongoi TV.

The station belongs to the same media group as Mutongoi TV, whose studios are in Machakos. Both were started by John Marete, the media entrepreneur who earlier founded Weru TV and Weru FM in Meru. Mutongoi TV was his second television station, and he launched the Mutongoi radio station in December 2021.

Starting in Ukambani meant entering a busy market. Kamba listeners already had Royal Media Services' Musyi FM, KBC's Mwatu FM and Mbaitu FM, among others. Mutongoi FM's pitch is the pairing with a Kikamba television channel, so the same brand reaches viewers and listeners.

Its format follows the familiar vernacular mix of news, talk and music in Kikamba, aimed at listeners in Machakos, Makueni and Kitui as well as Kamba speakers living in Nairobi. We have not confirmed the presenters or flagship shows, so none are listed here.

Frequencies are not yet confirmed. Figures including 100.2, 102.9 and 103.3 FM have been mentioned for the Kibwezi area, but we have not been able to verify them, so we have not recorded any. The reliable option is to stream Mutongoi FM live on this page.
