Live page

Muuga FM is Royal Media Services' Kimeru station for the Ameru people of upper Eastern Kenya. It has been on air since 2005 and broadcasts on 88.9 FM.

The signal reaches most of Meru and Tharaka Nithi, from the Imenti areas and Buuri to Tigania, Igembe, Maara and Tharaka, and Royal Media says it spills over into Isiolo, Mwingi, Marsabit and Moyale. 'Muuga' is the everyday Ameru greeting, meaning 'how are you'. The station's slogan: 'Kaju ka Ameru'.

In Royal Media's words the content is a blend of mature, informative and youthful programming built to keep Ameru culture and identity strong. News sits next to sport, comedy and music, and the talk shows take on politics, the economy, education and social issues.

The weekday schedule starts at 4am with Kembura Nkoro. Ntungo ya Nyoni runs from 6am to 10am, and Royal Media bills it as the leading breakfast show among Kimeru stations. Later in the day come Nthurima Ngugi, the youth programme Mwenjoyo and the drive show Mwaago na Nkanya. On weekends, listeners get Ringa Ime, Ntherano Bienini for sport, and Chunga Kiariki, a show that has run since the station first went on air.

Muuga FM is part of the same network as Radio Citizen and Inooro FM. Tune to 88.9 FM in Meru, or stream it on this page or the Citizen Radio app.
