Osiepe FM

Osiepe FM is a Dholuo-language station licensed to Mediamax Network, the media group behind K24 TV, Kameme FM and Milele FM. It is aimed at Luo listeners in Siaya and Homa Bay counties. Osiepe is a Dholuo word for friends.

When the licence was announced, Osiepe FM was due to go on air on 96.8 FM, covering Siaya and Homa Bay. The launch was linked at the time to the political 'handshake' between President Uhuru Kenyatta, whose family has a stake in Mediamax, and opposition leader Raila Odinga.

Mediamax already ran vernacular stations for other communities, including Kameme FM in Kikuyu, Meru FM in Kimeru and Emoo FM in Ekegusii, so a Luo station extended that model into Nyanza. In the Dholuo market, Osiepe FM shares the dial with long-established stations such as Royal Media Services' Ramogi FM, KBC's Mayienga FM and Radio Lake Victoria.

The frequency is the main thing to check before you tune in. The figure announced with the licence was 96.8, though 93.6 FM has also been given. Because 96.8 was announced before launch, the current figure may have changed. We have not confirmed presenters or shows, and we have not found a launch date, so none are listed.
