Live page

Radio Jangwani is the Catholic Diocese of Marsabit's radio station, on 106.3 FM for listeners across Marsabit County. Jangwani means 'in the desert', a fair description of the dry north where it broadcasts.

The station went on air on 26 January 2016. It broadcasts in four languages: Kiswahili, Borana, Turkana and Samburu. That mix reflects Marsabit's communities, and lets the station speak to pastoralist families in their own languages instead of relying on Kiswahili alone, whether they live in Marsabit town or out on the grazing lands.

Its programming has three main strands. One is evangelisation, with Catholic teaching and worship. The second is peace-building between Marsabit's communities, using the shared airwaves to carry messages of reconciliation. The third is community dialogue, giving local people a platform to discuss the issues that affect them.

Radio Jangwani belongs to the network of Catholic diocesan stations in Kenya that includes Radio Waumini in Nairobi, Radio Tumaini in Mombasa and Mitume Radio in Kitale. We have not confirmed current presenters or programme names, so none are listed.

In Marsabit, tune to 106.3 FM. Because the county is large and sparsely populated, reception can vary with distance from the transmitter, so the online stream is a useful backup. Listeners elsewhere in Kenya or abroad can stream Radio Jangwani live on this page.
