Radio Mambo

Radio Mambo is a Swahili community station in Webuye, Bungoma County, in Western Kenya. Its audience is local: listeners in Webuye town and the farming areas around it.

The frequency needs checking. Radio Mambo has been given as 97.1 FM in Webuye, but 91.7 has also been reported. The two numbers use the same digits in a different order, so one may be a typing slip, but we cannot say which is right without an on-air check. We have recorded 97.1 and noted the other.

Webuye's radio market is shared with regional heavyweights such as Royal Media Services' Mulembe FM and KBC's Ingo FM, as well as Radio Simba, which broadcasts on 91.3 FM in Webuye. A community station like Radio Mambo competes by staying close to local news, local issues and local voices.

We have not found reliable information on who owns Radio Mambo, when it started, or which presenters and shows it carries. Searching the name mostly brings up Leonard Mambo Mbotela, the late KBC broadcaster, who has no known link to the station. We have left the owner and launch fields blank and have not listed any shows.

In Webuye, try 97.1 FM first, then 91.7. Elsewhere, stream Radio Mambo live on this page.
