Radio Maria Kenya

Radio Maria Kenya is a Catholic station for listeners who want prayer, Mass, Bible teaching and church music on the radio, and it is run from Murang'a. Two frequencies appear on its website: Murang'a on 88.1 FM and Nyeri on 90.0 FM. The offices are in Murang'a town, on an upper floor of the CDM Centenary Building.

Internationally, the station is part of a Catholic radio network called the World Family of Radio Maria, which started in Italy in 1987. Like its sister stations abroad, the Kenyan service follows a set pattern. Liturgy and catechesis take a large share of airtime, along with devotions such as the Holy Rosary and the Divine Mercy, and Catholic music fills the gaps. The website also carries messages in Kikuyu and English, which reflects its Central Kenya base.

Licensing is more complex than one station, one frequency. In the Communications Authority of Kenya register for June 2026, Radio Maria Kenya holds three FM licences: a community licence for Radio Maria FM dating from March 2019, plus commercial licences for Nairobi and Kisumu, both granted in January 2022. Nyeri is handled differently. The Catholic Diocese of Nyeri holds its own Radio Maria Nyeri licence, granted in October 2022. Archived pages on the station's website show the Nyeri service was being prepared in 2016, with an opening planned for 15 August that year under Father Samuel Njigua and with the Archbishop of Nyeri's backing.

Money comes mostly from listeners. Radio Maria stations hold an annual fundraising drive known as the Mariathon, and Kenya takes part. The station is also said to use 107.3 FM in Nairobi, though this is unconfirmed.
