Shine FM

Shine FM is Daystar University's campus radio station, where communication students learn broadcasting by running a real station. It broadcasts on 99.9 FM and serves the Daystar community and listeners around its campuses. It is run as a working station, so students handle presenting, production and news.

Daystar launched the station in 2003. In February 2022 it moved frequency, from 103.1 MHz to 99.9 MHz, so older references to 103.1 are out of date.

Daystar is a Christian university, and its main campus is at Athi River in Machakos County, with a second campus in Nairobi. It is not clear exactly where Shine FM's studio sits. A 2025 handover of the station's student leadership was held at the Nairobi campus, but that does not settle it.

As a training station, Shine FM's line-up changes as students arrive and graduate. We have not found a current schedule or presenter list, so no shows are named here. Student leadership of the station is handed over periodically, as the 2025 handover shows. We have also not confirmed the main broadcast language.
