Strath Hits Radio

Strath Hits Radio is Strathmore University's internet radio station in Nairobi, run by students for a campus and city audience that wants music, talk and student-made current affairs. It has no FM frequency and streams online only.

The station belongs to the university's School of Humanities and Social Sciences. Communication students do the work: presenting, producing and running the desk from a studio in the Student Centre Building. For them it is a training ground. For listeners it is a chance to hear what young Nairobians are talking about, outside the commercial FM format.

The station says its output covers music, talk shows, current affairs and podcasts. We have not found a published schedule or a list of current student presenters, which change as students graduate, so we do not name shows here. Podcasts give the station a second life beyond live airtime, since you can catch up on episodes when it suits you.

Strathmore is a private university, and the station is a university project rather than a commercial broadcaster. That shapes what you hear: student voices and the topics they choose, rather than a commercial playlist. We have not confirmed the main language used on air, though the station's website is in English.
