Vuuka FM

Vuuka FM is the Royal Media Services station for Maragoli speakers, broadcasting in Lulogooli on 95.4 FM to Vihiga County and Luhya listeners further afield. Its slogan, "Omwoyo gwo Mulogoli", roughly means the heart of the Mulogoli, and the programming leans hard on Maragoli culture, local news and music.

Royal Media runs three Luhya brands. Mulembe FM is the general Luhya station, Sulwe FM speaks to Bukusu listeners, and Vuuka covers the Maragoli. The idea is that a listener in Mbale or Majengo hears their own dialect rather than a broad regional mix. Royal Media describes the station's aim as encouraging positive change in Maragoli communities and keeping their heritage on air, while still carrying the national stories of the day.

A weekday on Vuuka starts at 5am with Vuuka Vuchee, a breakfast programme of news, current affairs and lighter content that runs until 10am. Kumiyinzi follows mid-morning with discussion of community issues. Afternoons belong to Zanzarika, aimed at younger listeners, and evenings bring Garaha Kumiyinzi and then Kosoosa, which closes the day with news and current affairs.

Weekends sound different. Sangara mixes storytelling with music, Twende Afrika plays songs from around the continent, and Club Vuuka covers sport and entertainment. Sunday has the gospel show Kwizominya, the youth and children's programme Riburuka and, in the evening, Singira Wimanye.
