Weru FM

Weru FM is a Meru-language commercial station for listeners in the Mt Kenya East region. It broadcasts in Kimeru around the clock and runs alongside a sister television channel, Weru TV, under the Weru Media name.

The station's website says Weru TV and Weru FM target Meru, Tharaka Nithi, Embu, Isiolo and Laikipia counties as well as Nairobi, with a live stream for listeners further away. Its stated mix covers news, politics and political analysis, business, sport, culture, health, agriculture, comedy, children's programmes and plenty of music. The site lists its pillars as informing, educating, entertaining and promoting culture and regional languages.

On paper, the radio licence belongs to a Meru company, Real Image Communication EA Limited. As the Communications Authority's register for June 2026 shows, the ten-year licence dates from 24 January 2020. The same register puts Weru TV under a separate company, Weru Television Services. The media entrepreneur John Marete founded Weru TV and Weru FM, and later added the Kamba-language Mutongoi TV and Mutongoi FM.

In the Meru market, Weru FM competes with other Kimeru stations, among them KBC's Mwago FM, Muuga FM from Royal Media Services and Meru FM from Mediamax.

The station's official Facebook page, linked from its website, carries the name WeruFM96.4, which points to 96.4 FM in Meru. You can also listen to Weru FM live on this page.
