Musyi FM

Musyi FM is the Kikamba-language station from Royal Media Services, made for Kamba listeners in Ukambani, Nairobi and the coast. In Nairobi and Machakos it sits on 102.2 FM. Kitui and Makueni get it on 103.6 FM, Kibwezi on 92.2 FM and Mombasa on 100 FM.

The name means 'home' in Kikamba, and the slogan, 'Thome wa Mukamba', carries the same idea: the station wants Kamba listeners to feel they are among their own. The content mixes news, talk, comedy, sport, business and educational features, with a stated aim of keeping Kamba language and culture alive.

A weekday on Musyi starts at 4am with Masuiluni, an inspirational early show. The breakfast programme Waamukata follows from 6am to 10am and is the station's flagship. Later come Ikya Kw'oko mid-morning, Kiingane for younger listeners, Sembasemba on the evening drive, and Kiwe Kyotuku, the 'night whisper', after dark.

Weekends lean more on music. Royal Media credits Fagilia with giving rise to what is now called Kamba urban music, while Ngui Situ showcases Kamba benga artists. Syukile na Mathau covers sport, and Kwaka Musyi is aimed at families.
