Mwenda wa Gichuru

Mwenda wa Gichuru is a Muuga FM presenter who hosts Twitie Nkathi, the Royal Media Services station's weekday evening show in Kimeru. Royal Media also names him as the station's Deputy Head of Radio, and he was one of the small group of journalists heard on air when Muuga FM first launched.

He started out as a Radio Citizen correspondent in Meru County. Over about 16 years in the industry, by the station's count, he worked as a news reader, a producer and a continuity presenter before settling into his evening slot. As a child he wanted either to become a Catholic priest or to work in radio. Radio won.

Twitie Nkathi runs from 8pm to midnight, Monday to Friday. It deals with the issues that matter to listeners in the upper Eastern region, from politics to the economic empowerment of the community. It is the kind of show people tune into after supper, when there is time to call in and argue.

Farming is the other half of his on-air work. He is a farmer himself, and he produces Kaju ka Murimi, a daily feature that encourages farmers to treat their work as agribusiness. It airs at 7:30am, Monday to Friday, inside the Ntungo ya Nyoni breakfast show, so his voice reaches morning listeners as well as the evening crowd. His current slot has not been confirmed for 2026.
