Shugaboy, whose real name is Ally Mwayongwa, was a long-serving host of Maisha Asubuhi, the breakfast show on Standard Group's Radio Maisha. He is no longer on air there. He presented his last edition on 27 February 2026, alongside his co-host Main Man Rio, and said he was leaving after nine years to focus on farming and politics.
His time at the station started on the evening programme Maisha Jioni. He later moved to the morning slot, where his segment Wrong Number became one of the station's best-known features. Listeners followed him for the humour and the everyday tone of his shows.
In his farewell message, Shugaboy said he had arrived at the station with few skills and was leaving fully equipped for the next step. He also said he would not join another media house unless the pay was very high.
His exit was part of a bigger change at Radio Maisha. Mike Nyagwoka and Shaffie Zele had already left, and the station began a rebrand under the hashtag MwamkoMpya on 2 March 2026. If you are looking for Shugaboy on Radio Maisha now, he is not there, and he has not announced a move to any other station.
