Mwatu FM is the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation's Kikamba station, made for Kamba-speaking listeners in Makueni and the wider Ukambani area.
The station dates from 2012. It was part of a wave of vernacular services the public broadcaster opened in 2011 and 2012, which also produced Kitwek FM for Kalenjin listeners, Minto FM for Ekegusii, Mwago FM for Kimeru, Nosim FM for Maa, Mayienga FM for Dholuo and Ingo FM for Luhya. KBC built these stations to win back regional audiences that had moved to private vernacular radio during the 2000s.
