Chiko Lawi

Chiko Lawi is a sports journalist and broadcaster who co-hosts Capital in the Morning, the 98.4 Capital FM breakfast show, with Maalika. Capital FM schedules the show from 6am to 10am, Monday to Thursday. On Fridays the breakfast slot becomes Friday Flight, hosted by Maalika and DJ Adrian.

Lawi also appears on Saturday afternoons. The station lists him on Saturday Music & Sports from 2pm to 5pm, alongside Alex, Onyatta and Kabir, which fits his background in sports broadcasting.

Before Capital FM he built his career in sports television. He had a successful run at SuperSport before leaving to become the main presenter on Kwese Free Sport, based in South Africa, and in 2019 he was said to be in informal talks to return to SuperSport.

Until April 2026 his breakfast co-host was Fellaris Wambui. She signed off from Capital FM on 2 April 2026 and moved to NTV's Fixing the Nation. In her farewell message she thanked Lawi, calling him "a rock". The station now pairs him with Maalika, who also presents Financial Forecast in an early-evening slot (6.30pm to 7.30pm) on the schedule. For listeners who knew the show from the Wambui years, the format and the 6am start are unchanged; only the voice beside Lawi is new.
