Omar Bakuli presents Kalakala, the weekday drive show on Mulembe FM, the Luhya language station owned by Royal Media Services. He moved to the evening slot on 9 February 2026, after years as the voice of the station's breakfast show, Bukha Bushiere.
The switch was part of what Royal Media called an airwave shake-up. Bakuli and Pamela Kadima traded places, with Kadima taking breakfast and Bakuli taking drive. The same reshuffle moved Jeff Koinange and Patrick Igunza at Hot 96 and the Jambo Kenya team at Radio Citizen. RMS radio director Fred Afune said the aim was to challenge presenters to win over a new audience.
Kalakala runs from 4pm to 8pm. The name is a Luhya greeting for people coming home after the day's work, and Royal Media says the show focuses on social and economic issues that affect the Mulembe nation. Inganakani, from 5pm to 6pm, brings experts into the studio to talk about culture, marriage, debt, law and personal stories. There is a nonstop Isukuti mix from 6:15pm, then the main news and an in-depth look at a regional issue from 7pm.
Mulembe FM can be heard on 99.0 FM and 99.2 FM in Western Kenya, 95.8 FM in Eldoret and 97.9 FM in Nairobi, and it streams on Citizen Digital.
