Nation FM

Nation FM is the English-language radio station of Nation Media Group, broadcasting from Nairobi on 96.3 FM for an urban, working-age audience that wants talk, news and current music in one place. Older listeners will remember the frequency as Easy FM, the name it carried before the switch to the Nation brand.

The change from Easy FM was more than a new logo. Manwa Magoma, then head of radio at Nation Media Group, said the station would move away from its rhythm and blues diet towards conversation about everyday life, with a breakfast show called State of the Nation, news on the hour and longer bulletins at 1pm and 6pm. The road since then has not been smooth. Nation Media Group took Nation FM off air in July 2016, at the same time as QTV, and brought it back on 30 September 2019 with Dr King'ori and Cate Rira on a 6am to 10am breakfast slot and comedian Obinna with Anto Neosoul on the evening drive.

The weekday schedule starts at 4am with Praise Break, a gospel show presented by Barbra Koinange. From 6am to 10am the station carries Fixing the Nation, a talk-led breakfast programme broadcast at the same time on NTV and hosted by Eric Latiff, Mariam Bishar and Fellaris Wambui, who replaced Janet Mbugua in April 2026. Claudia Naisabwa and Brian Aseli follow with Vibe Shift from 10am to 2pm, then DJ Ignyte plays mixes on Turn Up @2 until 4pm. Harry Araka and Nyanduko Nyabuto present the drive show Ride n Vybe from 4pm to 8pm, and Shatta Bway and DJ Selector Munga close the evening with the reggae show Rockers Nation until midnight. On Sundays Barbra Koinange presents Praise Break Reloaded from 6am to 10am.

Because the station is part of the same group as the Daily Nation and NTV, its news bulletins draw on a large newsroom, and several presenters move between radio and television.
