Emmanuel Mwashumbe is one of the two voices on Breakfast 47, Radio 47's weekday morning show, which he presents with Alex Mwakideu. On air he goes by Captain Mbappe, or simply Mbappe.
He has been part of the breakfast slot since Radio 47 first went on air in March 2023. The station's opening schedule paired him with Mkamburi Chigogo from 6am to 10am. When Mwakideu joined in late August 2023 he took Chigogo's seat, and Mwashumbe stayed on. Chigogo marked the change by calling him one of the most supportive colleagues she had worked with.
Before Radio 47 he was at Radio Maisha. In late 2022 he was co-hosting there with Shuga Boy, and the pair were among the better-known Swahili radio duos of the time. He has worked in broadcasting for about 15 years, was born in Taita Taveta County and went to Fighinyi Primary School there. He also works as an emcee.
Breakfast 47 runs a set of regular segments, among them Gumzo 47 for the day's main debate, Mahakama 47, a mock people's court, County Edition on county affairs and Dondoo Magazetini, a run through the morning papers. In October 2026 Radio 47 still counted Mwashumbe among its on-air talent, and Breakfast 47 was still running.
