Mbaruk Mwalimu co-hosts Maskani 47, Radio 47's weekday drive show from 3pm to 7pm, with Billy Miya. On air he is billed as Fazah the Story Teller, and his name is sometimes written as Mwalim Mbaruk.
He and Miya have worked as a pair for years. Both were at Baraka FM in Mombasa, had a short stay at Milele FM, and in July 2018 were unveiled as the new hosts of Maisha Asubuhi, Radio Maisha's breakfast show, after Alex Mwakideu moved on. Mbaruk later hosted other programmes at Standard Group while Miya did the same.
He signed off at Radio Maisha on 2 March 2023, calling it a hard decision, and joined Cape Media's Radio 47 for its launch later that month. Since then the two have fronted Maskani, which features listener problems on Suluhu 47, a comic proverb slot and live sports talk.
Away from the studio, he is a filmmaker, voice-over artist and emcee who has taught drama and theatre on the side for about a decade. He was born in Diani in Kwale County. In April 2026 Miya claimed that both presenters had been targeted by the Tanzanian government over their on-air commentary, and the pair were still on Maskani 47 at that point.
