Mulembe FM on 97.9 FM

Mulembe FM is the Luhya-language station from Royal Media Services, aimed at the Luhya people of western Kenya and those living in Nairobi and the Rift.

The station calls its audience the Mulembe Nation, a nod to the Luhya greeting and to the many sub-groups that make up the community. Its motto is 'Omwoyo kwa Baluhya'. Royal Media says Mulembe has been broadcasting for close to twenty years, with a schedule that blends news and talk with Luhya cultural programmes and plenty of music.

Weekdays open at 4am with Tsikhabi Mumabwibwi, an inspirational show, before Bukha Bushiere takes over the 6am to 10am breakfast slot with current affairs. Mid-morning belongs to Tinyirira, which means 'work hard', then come the youth show Mulembe Baze and Kalakala on the evening drive.

Radio 47 on 97.9 FM

Radio 47 is a national urban Swahili station owned by Cape Media Limited, the company that also runs TV47.

The station went live on Monday 13 March 2023. Before launch it hired heavily from rivals, chiefly Radio Maisha and Milele FM. The opening line-up published that month named Eva Mwalili (Mama Taifa) on the early Nuru 47, Emmanuel Mwashumbe and Mkamburi Chigogo on Breakfast 47, Mwanaisha Chidzuga on mid-morning Mchikicho, Manucho the Young Turk on Baze 47 and Billy Miya with Mbaruk Mwalimu on the Maskani drive show. Dr Ofweneke took the evening Chemba Show.

Breakfast 47 changed in August 2023, when Alex Mwakideu left Milele FM and joined Mwashumbe on the 6am to 10am slot. Weekend programming at launch included Bahari la Elimu for students and teachers, Mikiki ya Spoti, Kali za Kale with Eric Wambugu and the political talk show Kikao cha Hoja.
